Lime Venue Portfolio
How Lime Venue Portfolio measured the carbon emissions of their exhibition stand with TRACE
96.6%
of materials used to build the stand were reclaimed or reused
0.2%
of materials were derived from virgin materials, which then went into waste or recycling
62.4%
of our overall emissions were transport related, with 0.45 tCO2e calculated
By challenging ourselves to fully measure our impact across this trade show, we’re able to learn from and improve on our impact in the future. At the next The Meetings Show, we’re able to have a measurable goal in place: reduce the carbon impact of our attendance to be lower than 0.73 tCO2e.

Lime Venue Portfolio (LVP) is one of the UK’s largest venue finder, helping event organisers match their event to a host of iconic venues country-wide.
The challenge
Lime Venues wanted to set themselves the challenge of being fully transparent with their carbon emissions at The Meetings Show 2023. They wanted to continue to push the boundaries around event sustainability to show they could ‘walk the walk’ when it comes to making sustainable choices.
The solution
To measure their exhibition, they partnered with TRACE by isla, using their carbon measurement tool to collect the relevant data to measure their impact across The Meetings Show. With the help of their suppliers (who produced and built their stand), they were able to collect data in the following categories; Energy, Catering, Transport, Stand Production and Waste.
The conclusion
From implementing measurement, Lime Venues discovered the following:
By providing 100% plant-based meals and canapes during their activations during the show, they limited the catering impact to just 14.7% of their carbon footprint. In future, they will encourage staff to reduce their meat intake to further lower this impact.
In future, they will encourage staff to stay in a hotel that uses certifiable renewable energy (20.7% of their emissions were caused by staying at a hotel with no certifiable renewable energy). Lime Venues pledged to encourage contractors to use electric vehicles, as 22 tCO2e was emitted from a diesel van being used to transport their production materials.
They will continue to use recyclable or repurposed materials to significantly reduce their stand’s waste post-event. Not only did it look good, but it also reduced the impact.
